Just 35km from Arusha (75km from Moshi) you can get out of the city and into the bush with this one day trip. Arusha National Park, at 137km², is one of Tanzania’s smaller national parks but still boasts a wide variety of wildlife along with the still active volcano- Mount Meru. For those interested in exploring by foot, this is the only national park in the Northern Circuit where you will be able to walk amongst the wildlife. Imagine strolling past a group of Grant’s gazelle or coming across a family of Elephants right at the foothills of Tanzania’s 2nd highest peak. Despite its smaller size you will find a variety of interesting landscape features within the park, including the Ngurdoto Crater, Mommela Lakes and Tululusia waterfalls. Good things come in small packages!!
Pick up from your hotel in Moshi/Arusha and drive to the National Park. Start your experience on the ground with a walking safari, accompanied by your guide and rangers. Whilst passing groups of grazing buffalo you will make your way to the Tululusia Waterfalls.
Walking safari lasts for approximately 2 hours. Then return in the car for a game drive to the Mommela lakes where you will enjoy your picnic lunch, next to the hippos. Following lunch you will explore the rest of the park, including the Ngurdoto crater, before heading back to Moshi/Arusha (arrive 5-6pm). Included: Transport in safari land-cruiser with open roof for wildlife viewing, safari guide, lunchbox, water, park entrance and ranger fees. Not included: Tipping, Alcoholic beverages, Sodas. General Safari Information Your safari team:
Our safari guides are all well experienced in the field and passionate about showing you the amazing wildlife and culture Tanzania has to offer. All are fluent in English, and if you have a special language request just let us know as many will also have an additional language (e.g. French, Spanish, German). They are also well trained in 4×4 driving so will be able to get you anywhere on the varying road qualities we have here! Please feel free to ask your guide any questions you may have about the wildlife, culture or trip along the way.
Transport: 4×4 Safari Landcruiser with 7 seats. Our safari vehicles have been specifically modified for wildlife viewing, with a pop top roof which will be open during all game drives and sliding windows. We carry at least one pair of binoculars in each vehicle. Please note our regular safari vehicles do not have air conditioning or a refrigerator, if you would like to organise a safari with an upgraded vehicle with these facilities please let us know to prepare a quote.
Tipping: A great area of confusion and unease for many tourists, tipping is a generally expected and highly appreciated (although not compulsory) part of your safari tour. It is a great way of saying ‘thank you’ to those that have helped you to have a wonderful experience here. Tips should be given at the end of your safari when saying your goodbyes. If you are part of a group safari it is best to try to discuss with everyone beforehand how you wish to do the tipping. To help you feel at ease we have provided a general guide below but please remember that tipping is a way of you showing your gratitude for your safari staff and is up to you! The guidelines given below are for a group amount, not individually. Guide: 20-25 USD/ day..
